I started down this path because I have a passion for software engineering, I have always been interested in computers and video games, and once I began tinkering with code, I found myself spending hours upon hours writing and debugging programs. I love the feeling of creating something from scratch and seeing it come to life. This later manifested as a desire to work on meaningful projects that can make a difference in people’s lives.
Overall, it is rewarding for me to work on something that has the potential to have a positive impact on how organisations manage third-party risk. Beyond that, I enjoy working closely with the team. Everyone is talented in their own way and together, we brainstorm new features and activities that can improve the platform.
One of the challenges with working on IMMUNE is having to balance feature development with constraints such as project timeline, degree of technical expertise, and team members’ availability as then that would determine how feasible it would be to implement certain changes.
To overcome this, I worked closely with the team to breakdown complex requirements into small, manageable tasks. We evaluated each feature against the project's goals, considering its value to the customer, technical complexity, and the resources required to implement it. In doing so, we were able to identify the features that were most important to the customer and also feasible to implement within our technical constraints. By taking this approach, we were able to prioritize our efforts and ensure that we were delivering value to the customer while not exhausting our resources.
The greatest differentiator to me is how RCPL invests in its employees' growth and development. It's clear that the company values its employees as their greatest asset and adopts the stance that supporting employee development benefits everyone. When I first started at RCPL, I was paired with a mentor who helped me to identify areas where I could improve my soft skills, such as communication and teamwork and I was able to make significant improvements in my soft skills over time.
What sets the IMMUNE product apart from other products is its comprehensive approach to Extended-TPRM. The platform provides complete visibility into the complex network of third, fourth, and Nth-parties, helping organizations to identify and mitigate risks throughout their entire relationship lifecycle. This is especially important in today's interconnected business environment, where risks extend beyond just direct relationships with third-parties. The IMMUNE product is a game changer in this regard, providing a solution that goes beyond what other products in the industry offer.
One accomplishment that I am particularly proud of while working on the IMMUNE product at RCPL is the improvements I made with the team to the performance and user experience (UX) of the platform which ultimately led to a better product that delivers more value to our customers.
We identified that some of the endpoints were causing slow response times and negatively impacting the user experience. Noting that this was a critical issue that needed to be addressed with immediacy, we worked collaboratively with the back-end team to implement these changes, and made adjustments to the front-end code to reduce the complexity of some features.
The culture at RCPL is one that focuses on collaboration, innovation, and excellence. There is a strong emphasis on teamwork and open communication, and we, as employees, are constantly encouraged to share our thoughts and ideas to contribute to the success of the company.
Outside of work, I love spending time in nature and exploring the great outdoors. One of my favorite hobbies is camping and visiting natural places like national parks and forests. I find that spending time in nature helps me recharge and being surrounded by natural beauty and fresh air is a great way to clear my mind and reduce stress.
